Mark's Guide to Door County Wisconsin
Door County State and County Parks
With five Wisconsin State Parks, more than any other county in the United States, Door County is one of the best recreational areas of the state. Door County also has 19 county parks. Like the State parks, the county parks ranch from rustic to full featured. Cave Point County Park is one of my favorites and it is right next to Whitefish Dunes State Park. Whitefish Dunes State Park has changed over the years. It started out more a rustic hardly used park and now has evolved into one of the more popular State Parks.
Peninsula State Park by far is the most popular of all the State Parks. It is the busiest of all Door County State Parks. The park has loads of camping, beaches, golf, boat ramps, a lighthouse, outdoor theater, and loads of hiking trails. Peninsula State Park is located on the Green Bay side of Door County between Fish Creek and Ephraim. The Eagle Bluff Lighthouse is one of the popular stopping points. It offers tours during the summer and a great view of the Strawberry Islands.
