Mark's Guide to Door County Wisconsin
Does this make me an expert on Door County, not really. Every trip I still learn something entirely new or see something in a different light or perspective. The best way of course to learn about Door County is to visit Door County. Each month or season offers something different for the visitor. I hope in these few pages to offer either the first time visitor to Door County or the frequent traveler to Door County some new insight about Wisconsin's Door County. It is one of our favorite Wisconsin designations. I will be adding different topics over the next few months, so stop back often to see what is new.

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words
Door County has more lighthouses, more shoreline and more state parks than any other county in the United States. It is rich in maritime history. Door County was created in 1851, three years after the State of Wisconsin was formed. Door County is a 483 square mile peninsula surrounded by the waters of Lake Michigan and Green Bay. The county seat is Sturgeon Bay, Door County’s largest municipality. Door County has a full time population of around 30 thousand with a third of the population in Sturgeon Bay, the only city in Door County.
